Trainee Practitioners (various roles)

Closing date: Monday, 23 September

Young Somerset have a number of vacancies for enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join their ever-growing Mental Health and Wellbeing Team.

Young Somerset are the primary voluntary and community sector youth work organisation in Somerset that put young people first. They deliver a range of recreational and educational services that are aligned to statutory provision, and support young peoples’ personal, social, economic, and educational development.

The organisation are now seeking to recruit number of Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), Trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), and a 0-5 Pathway Practitioner to join a team that offers both clinical and non-clinical support to children, young people, and families across Somerset.

They will work with a variety of partners in a range of community settings including schools and shared spaces across the county. As part of Young Somerset, they will also learn and be involved in the wider work of the organisation.

EMHPs and CWPs will deliver low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy to children, young people, and families in Somerset, either 1:1 or in a group.

EMHPs will also deliver a whole school approach to mental health by supporting schools to embed a mentally healthy culture and environment and work as part of the Mental Health Support Team, which is delivered in partnership with Somerset Foundation Trust CAMHS service and supported by Somerset Council Educational Psychology Service.

0-5 Pathway Practitioners will deliver parenting interventions through Home Coaching and Video Interaction Guidance for common presenting difficulties in 0–5-year-olds to enhance attachment between parent/carer and child. These practitioners also support the wider Early Years delivery within Young Somerset, including parenting group work.

Post-holders will also attend taught and self-study days, remotely and in person in Exeter or Bristol, and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.

You’ll find further information, including a job description and details of how to apply, on Young Somerset’s website.
