Take Part Yarlington

Prya & Pamela taking part in our shared reading scheme

In partnership with Yarlington Housing Group, we're working to reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing in South Somerset.

Take Part Yarlington was launched in January 2019, initially focusing on the Birchfield area of Yeovil. We will work in a further 8 areas in South Somerset over the next 3 years, helping to reduce social isolation by connecting residents with their communities.

Community Cafe

Our pilot Community Café in the Birchfield area of Yeovil is a great opportunity for residents to socialise, find out how to access health and wellbing support, and explore other ways to get involved in the community through local activities and volunteering. The Birchfield Community Café takes place at the Yarlington Community Hub on St. John’s Road, Yeovil from 10:30am to 12:30pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

We are excited to announce that our newest Community Cafe is starting on Tuesday 2nd July at the Bishop's Court in Chard. Taking place every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Look out for more Community Cafes coming soon!

Shared Reading Scheme

In partnership with Birchfield Primary School, we recently set up a shared reading scheme, giving local residents the opportunity to share their love of reading and help the pupils to develop their skills and confidence. Pamela Mcintosh, a retired teacher from Yeovil, took part in the scheme. You can read her story here.
