Thriving Communities Roadshow - showcasing social prescribing in Somerset
Over the coming months, we will be holding a series of Roadshow Events in each district of the county which will provide the chance to find out more about the Thriving Communities Somerset project and meet the people making Social Prescribing happen in your local area.
Thriving Communities Somerset aims to improve wellbeing by boosting community-based activities that benefit people’s health and wellbeing.
In partnership with Take Art and Somerset Wildlife Trust, the project aims to strengthen and expand the range of activities offered, including creative and nature-based sessions and groups, by setting up a network of organisations from a wide range of sectors.
These activities will form part of ‘Social Prescribing’, a national initiative where people are supported to engage in community-based activities and services that can improve their wellbeing. This could include peer support groups, physical activities, social groups, debt advice services and volunteering opportunities.
Thriving Communities will also support the development of new activities and work with existing providers to help them become more sustainable and better connected with the local health and care system.
