A one-day course exploring youth work, adolescent development, and effective engagement with young people for professionals.

This one-day course is designed for NHS staff, teachers, decision-makers, police, and professionals working with children and young people in the VCFSE sector in Somerset.

The session explores the core principles and values of youth work, encouraging attendees to reflect on how these approaches can be embedded within their own professional practice.

Participants will also examine current youth work policy and its relevance to their roles in supporting young people. Through practical activities, attendees will develop effective communication and engagement techniques, while gaining a deeper understanding of adolescent development and how it can influence behaviour, relationships, and interactions with professionals.

Aim

To provide attendees with a clear understanding of youth work and increase their confidence when working with children and young people.

Outcomes

By the end of the session, attendees will:
