We’re excited to be working in partnership with public, community and voluntary sector organisations throughout Somerset on an important new research project. Together, we want to look back at what has happened during the past 18 months, and more importantly, focus on what we need to do as a sector to reflect, recover and renew.

This project will help us to identify the strengths of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in Somerset and understand what it needs to thrive in the future.  We want to bring together a diverse range of voluntary and community organisations from across the county to develop a shared vision for recovery, and highlight how our sector has stepped up and continued to deliver vital support during this challenging time.

Over the past few months, we have been gathering evidence from many of our VCSE partners about how our sector has responded to Covid-19, and what support is needed to enable us to move forward collaboratively. We asked for your help to think creatively about a shared vision for the VCSE sector in Somerset and you delivered in droves. We have heard a massive 250+ people representing over 170 VCSE sector organisations in Somerset. Whether you completed the survey, or took part in an online focus group, 1:1 interview or visioning session - thank you - your voice and experience is invaluable.

The findings are now being used to create the final report which we look forward to  sharing with you in the new year. Watch this space!

We are delivering the Reflect, Recover Renew project in partnership with Somerset County Council and Somerset Community Foundation. It is being led by a researcher and will be supported by a number of Somerset organisations, including Community Council for Somerset, Diversity Voice, Frome Town Council, Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership and Somerset Association of Local Councils.
