Gain an understanding of the different eating disorders and disordered eating issues, and how to signpost to support.
An eating disorder is a serious mental illness that can affect anyone of any age, gender, ethnicity, or background. They cause severe disturbances to a person’s relationship with food and eating that can quickly spiral into something that has a profound physical, social and psychological impact.
Join us for this online training session, where participants will be equipped with an awareness of the different eating disorders and disordered eating issues they may come across in their role, and some basic communication and signposting tips.
Delivered by experts from SWEDA, the session will cover:
- The types of eating disorders and disordered eating
- Eating disorders and neurodiversity, gender diversity, and ethnic diversity
- The dos and don’ts of supporting someone with eating issues
- When and how to signpost
Tickets for this session are freely available to staff and volunteers from VCFSE organisations in Somerset, and will be of particular interest to those who work with young people, or support their mental wellbeing.
