It's powerful when community voices and research come together.
Attendees of our previous research event told us they wanted more ways to:
- Hear about research updates, live projects and priorities
- See voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) groups recognised as researchers and innovators
- Share stories and case studies of real impact
- Build trusted partnerships across the system
- Access guides, resources and spaces for collaboration
This year, we’re back with Brunch & Learn: a morning to learn what’s new, see what’s been created, and connect with others involved in community research across Somerset.
During our Spotlight section, you’ll hear from:
- Professor Catherine Leyshon (Quay Research) about Somerset’s Research Engagement Network (REN)
- Dr Frederick Marais (Somerset Health Determinants Research Collaboration) who’ll share insights from Breaking Barriers, a community-based project exploring barriers and enablers to finding and staying in work for people living with disability and/or long-term health conditions
- Duran Ozdural (Reminiscence Learning) who will be introducing a collaborative project with Bath Spa University exploring “What does a dementia-friendly community mean to you?”
You’ll also hear updates on new tools like the Insights Hub, initiatives such as Community Conversations, the Research Engagement Framework, and new funding opportunities for VCFSE organisations.
After the talks, there’ll be time to explore the Marketplace. Wander around, chat with others, discover new tools and resources – and find out how to get involved.
There’ll be coffee, pastries, plenty of time to network – and lots of practical ideas to take back to your organisation.
Doors open at 9:30am, ready for a 10am start.
Free tickets are available for staff and volunteers from VCFSE groups working in Somerset, health and social care partners, researchers, and colleagues from local councils and statutory bodies.
