Somerset Youth Alliance and Turtle CYP have teamed up to provide free youth work training.
The ‘Introduction to Youth Work’ course will be delivered by Turtle CYP, an accredited training provider specialising in Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles and Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice courses. It is aimed at new youth workers and youth volunteers who haven’t yet undertaken a level 2 or 3 qualification, as well as those who volunteer with children and young people and want to find out if youth work is for them.
The course will cover:
- The key purposes and principles of youth work
- Legislation and policies
- The skills and qualities a youth worker will need
- How to communicate with young people and adolescent development
There won’t be any exams or coursework – just group discussions, minimal writing and practical activities!
The course will take place in Chard and will be delivered over two, five-hour sessions on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 November from 9:30am-3pm. Attendees will be required to attend both sessions.
