How you can make your fundraising events more accessible for disabled or neurodivergent people - whatever your budget.
Reasonable adjustments are ways in which we can change our working environment or arrangements to make sure what we do is as accessible and inclusive as possible. From members of staff and volunteers to service users, these changes should remove disadvantages at all levels.
But how do we get started, and what can we do to ensure we’re making our services truly accessible?
Join us for a practical session exploring how to make fundraising events more accessible and inclusive for disabled and neurodivergent people, whatever the size of your organisation or budget.
We will look at accessibility across the event journey, from initial planning and communications through to registration, participation and follow-up. We will explore reasonable adjustments, common barriers people can experience and practical ways to build accessibility in from the start, including changes that require little or no additional budget.
About the trainer
Training for this session forms part of our Disability & Reasonable Adjustments programme, facilitated by Evenbreak.
Evenbreak are a specialist inclusive recruitment and training organisation, led by people with lived experience of disability. This high-quality training – designed and delivered by the organisation’s Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent colleagues – will bring clarity and warmth to the subject, and ensure people feel capable of engaging with change rather than anxious about getting it wrong.
Please note: This training forms part of our bi-monthly Coffee & Connect for Fundraisers meeting, and will begin at 11:15 am. Attendees are welcome to join from 10am for the whole session, or at the time the training starts.
Designed with online fundraisers in mind, this session is ideal for anyone planning, promoting or delivering fundraising events who wants to feel more confident making accessibility part of everyday event planning and creating experiences where more people can participate.
Session attendees are also eligible for one of 50 Best Practice Portal licenses, which grants access to a learning hub filled with micro-learning modules, lived experience insights, and practical resources to help build your confidence. Licenses are issued on a first come, first served basis to those who have completed our Expression of Interest Form.
