Grief, Loss and Change: A 1-hour introductory session for people whose roles bring them into contact with grief, loss and change, whether through their own experiences or supporting others.

The session aims to build awareness of how experiences such as bereavement, changes in relationships, declining health or changing circumstances can affect wellbeing. It will consider the individual nature of grief and introduce approaches to coping, self-care and support available, helping attendees look after themselves and respond to others.

Intended outcomes

The session aims to help attendees:

  • Have a greater understanding of grief, loss and common grief reactions.
  • Recognise common emotional, physical and psychological responses, and why grief affects everyone differently.
  • Explore helpful coping strategies and self-care approaches.
  • Consider barriers to seeking support.
  • Build awareness of how to support others while recognising personal wellbeing needs.
  • Identify when additional help may be needed and where to access information, support and resources.
