Together, we don’t just talk about change – we make it happen.
We’re proud to launch the Spark Somerset Impact Report 2024/25, a celebration of the partnerships, projects, and people who are shaping stronger, more resilient communities across Somerset.
For the first time we’ve created a new digital report designed to make it even easier to discover the stories, achievements, and impact we’ve created together.
Over the past year, the theme of “You said, we did” has guided everything we do. By listening to the needs and priorities of the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, we’ve been able to take meaningful action and deliver real results.
Some of this year’s highlights include:
- Supporting 582 groups on their journey to grow and thrive.
- Helping organisations secure over £1.5 million in funding to bring vital new services into local communities.
- Delivering 73 training and networking sessions for 1,323 people, building skills, confidence, and collaboration across the sector.
- Welcoming 85,000 visits to Spark a Change – our volunteering platform – more than doubling last year’s figure and connecting thousands of people with meaningful opportunities.
- Launching new initiatives such as SkillShare and community organising pilots, helping groups work more collaboratively and inclusively.
The report also shines a spotlight on the innovative projects addressing digital exclusion, strengthening sector partnerships, and championing inclusive volunteering.
From local networks tackling dementia and youth mental health, to community-led initiatives creating new grassroots activities, the common thread is clear: when we work together, change happens.
Spark Somerset Chief Executive, Katherine Nolan, said:
“This year’s report reflects the incredible resilience and creativity of Somerset’s VCFSE sector. Every achievement has been shaped by the voices of our communities and the determination of the people who bring ideas to life. We’re delighted to share the impact of this work, and we look forward to building on it in the year ahead.”
Thank you for being part of the journey.
