Somerset Youth Alliance
Working together to improve the lives of young people across the county.
About the Alliance
Formed by youth work providers who saw the transformative impact of their work, the Alliance – now facilitated by Spark Somerset – brings together organisations supporting young people.
We collaborate with local and national partners, including the National Youth Agency and Young People’s Foundation Network, to ensure Somerset’s voice is heard in wider youth service and policy discussions.
Our aims and priorities
The Somerset Youth Alliance focuses on:
- Delivering high-quality, youth-led services that empower young people.
- Identifying and addressing gaps in provision to make youth support accessible to all.
- Building strong partnerships and exploring joint funding opportunities to strengthen youth programmes.
- Sharing learning, resources, and expertise across the sector.
- Championing youth work at a strategic level to raise awareness of its value.
- Supporting workforce development and career progression for youth practitioners.
By working together, we expand the reach and impact of youth work, share best practices, and ensure more young people benefit from the opportunities and support they deserve.
“The Alliance, supported by Spark Somerset, has achieved amazing things with their partnership, setting up the training programme and focusing the minds of politicians on how we support their life-enhancing, life-changing, and sometimes life-saving work.”
Cllr Caroline Ellis
