Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles

Get ready to dive deep into the world of youth work principles and gain your Level 2 Award – it’s going to be an exciting journey!

Start your journey in youth work – learn core values, skills, and best practice with the Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles in partnership with Turtle CYP.

 
This course, accredited by the National Open College Network, consists of 4 units:
  • Unit 1 – Theory of Youth Work
  • Unit 2 – Engaging and Communicating with young people
  • Unit 3 – Adolescent Development
  • Unit 4 – Safeguarding in youth work settings

Learners will attend weekly sessions on Zoom on either Thursdays from 6-9pm, or Fridays from 9:30am-12:30pm.

There will also be two face to face sessions taking place on Saturdays, with the first session taking place on 17 January 2026 in Bridgwater (location and time TBC).

The course ends on Friday 8 May 2026.

The full cost of the course is £675, but we are able to offer subsidised places thanks to the Somerset Youth Alliance. 

Subsidies are based on your organisation’s annual income:

  • Under £100,000; place is fully subsidised
  • Between £100,000-£500,000 – place is 75% subsidised
  • Over £500,000 – place is 25% subsidised

Please note: learners must be working or volunteering with young people weekly.
