Learn how you and your Board can review your organisation's safeguarding arrangements in line with official regulators.
Trustees, Directors and Boardmembers of charities in the UK have a responsibility to help ensure the organisations they support comply with current safeguarding legislation.
Join us for this specifically-designed session aimed at helping trustees review safeguarding arrangements in line with Charity Commission, Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and Charity Commission for Northern Ireland guidance, as well as the requirements of local Safeguarding Partnerships, Boards and/or Committees.
The session will address governance, management arrangements and performance in relation to safeguarding as well as practical aspects of running a charity.
We will cover:
- Legal frameworks
- Charity Commission guidance
- Policies and procedures
- Recruiting staff and volunteers
- Working overseas
- Safeguarding beneficiaries
- Ethical fundraising
- Social media and Online Safety
Following completion, trustees will be able to identify and plan actions needed to ensure the charity is meeting its legal safeguarding ‘duty of care’ and maintain safeguarding arrangements in line with legislation, government guidelines and regulatory requirements.
All places include a certificate of attendance (valid for three years) and a comprehensive training pack.
About the trainer
Your trainer for this session will be Stuart McCallum, Safeguarding Trainer & Auditor with SafeCIC, and a retired police officer with 30 years’ exemplary service with Suffolk Constabulary.
Stuart worked in a variety of roles including Protecting Vulnerable People Directorate (safeguarding); child/adult at risk/domestic abuse investigation; management of offenders in the community; child death investigation (‘SUDIC’); policy review; training, and working with statutory and third sector agencies for the majority of the last 20 years.
Stuart now provides bespoke, approved safeguarding training to adults and carries out safeguarding audits in forensic detail with SafeCIC.
Tickets for this session are freely available to Trustees and Boardmembers of voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) groups operating in Somerset.
