You may have heard PPIE mentioned in research projects, NHS conversations, or funding applications — but what does it mean in practice?

Join us for this hour-long Lunch & Learn session, where we will provide a practical introduction to Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE): what it is, why organisations are increasingly being asked about it, and the role VCFSE organisations can play within it.

We’ll explore:

  • What PPIE actually means
  • Why funders, researchers, and NHS organisations place so much emphasis on it
  • What meaningful involvement looks like in practice – beyond tick-box exercises
  • The important role VCFSE organisations often play as trusted connectors and facilitators with communities
  • How VCFSE organisations might become involved in research and engagement to help ensure research is relevant and accessible to all

The session will be facilitated by Andrea Mostyn-Jones, Senior Research Leader at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

This session is aimed at anyone who is curious about PPIE — whether you are completely new to the topic or want to better understand how it connects to your organisation’s work and communities.
