We’re working to reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing in South Somerset
Being part of a thriving community is important for our health and wellbeing. It creates opportunities to connect with other people, try new things, and share our skills and knowledge. It makes us feel happier, valued and supported. Through this project, and in partnership with Yarlington Housing Group we’re reaching out to residents in Somerset.
New Community Cookbook project
The recent UK lockdown posed many challenges for us all, but it also provided opportunities to learn new skills and hone existing ones. Cooking and baking were right up there on the top of the list! So, we thought it would be a great idea to share residents' culinary masterpieces in our new Community Cookbook, which we’ve teamed up with Yarlington, Zing and YMCA Somerset to create. When it’s finished, the cookbook will be available to download for free.
Yarlington residents - send us your recipes!
To bring this cookbook to life, we need your input! It will contain five categories and we’d love to receive recipes which cater for a range of dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, dairy free and gluten free.
We want to know what you’ve created, so please provide your own recipes rather than ones from your favourite cookbooks. The book will feature five categories covering:
We know that some ingredients have been hard to come by during lockdown, so we also want to know what you make from just five ingredients (excluding seasoning and oil) too. Which dish comforted you during lockdown? Or what is a long-standing family favourite? Please share! Whether you have a new creation or an old classic, send your recipes, with your first name, age and contact details to email@example.com for the chance to have your recipe featured.
We’d also like to hear from children who have a suggestion about what to call the cookbook and/or who would like to submit a design for the front cover. Send us your ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note, we will publish your first name and age alongside your recipe unless stated otherwise.
