Bespoke Youth Work Principles (half day)

An introduction to youth work principles, policy, and practical approaches for professionals supporting young people.

This 2.5 hour introductory session is designed for NHS staff, teachers, decision-makers, police, and other professionals working with children and young people in the VCFSE sector in Somerset.

The course explores the core principles and values of youth work, encouraging attendees to reflect on how these approaches can be embedded within their own professional practice. Participants will also examine current youth work policy and consider its relevance to their roles and responsibilities when supporting young people.

Aim

To provide attendees with a clear understanding of youth work, its principles, and its role in supporting children and young people.

Outcomes

By the end of the session, attendees will:

  • Be able to identify the key purposes, values, and principles of youth work
  • Have a greater understanding of the role and impact of youth work practice
  • Understand progression pathways into youth work
  • Develop teamwork and collaborative working skills
  • Explore creative and adaptable approaches to engaging with young people
  • Build confidence and self-awareness when working with children and young people
