People experiencing a mental health crisis may present with aggressive behaviours, from abusive language to threats of violence.

Join us for this two-hour online workshop, where we will provide practical techniques and confidence-building strategies to help staff and volunteers respond safely and effectively when faced with challenging or aggressive behaviour from those they support.

Key Topics Covered

  • Understanding anger and how it can present
  • What influences emotional responses and common escalation triggers
  • Communication skills and techniques to safely de-escalate aggression
  • Reframing challenging conversations for more positive engagement
  • Understanding boundaries and limitations within your role
  • Supporting yourself and colleagues before, during, and after incidents
  • Self-care strategies to promote resilience and wellbeing
  • Effective signposting

Attendees will leave the workshop with more in-depth knowledge of why clients may be experiencing angry and aggressive behaviour, and increased confidence when dealing with this to assist the client correctly.
