Learn the importance of reviewing your policy, and how to keep it effective and up-to-date.
For organisations in the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCSFE) sector, safeguarding is central to building trust, protecting those you support, and meeting responsibilities to funders as well as communities.
Safeguarding policies are an important part of this work but they can quickly become outdated, overly complex, or disconnected from your day-to-day activities.
This one-hour Lunch & Learn session is designed for groups who want to sense-check their safeguarding approach. We will explore what a ‘fit for purpose’ safeguarding policy might look like in the VCSFE context in Somerset, helping you to ensure that your own policy is practical, proportionate, and reflects the reality of your organisation’s activities.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Understand why we need a Safeguarding policy and what makes a safeguarding policy effective in the VCSFE sector
- Reflect on their organisation’s current safeguarding approach
- Be able to take next steps in reviewing or strengthening their safeguarding policy
This session will be led by Leonie Cole, an experienced Safeguarding Consultant and Designated Safeguarding Lead, working in both education and volunteer-led organisations.
Free tickets are solely available to VCFSE staff and volunteers from organisations operating in Somerset, and will be of particular interest to those with safeguarding responsibilities for their group or organisation.
