Over the last two years, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund has given us the opportunity to do more for Somerset’s communities.
Thanks to the funding, we’ve been able to try out new ideas, pilot projects and support even more local groups and charities across the county. Most importantly, it’s helped create the time and space for Somerset’s VCFSE sector to grow, connect and thrive.

We’ve worked with organisations to build confidence, strengthen leadership skills and develop practical know-how that will support their work long into the future. Along the way, we’ve seen groups sharing ideas, learning from each other and building relationships that are helping community-led action happen in every corner of the county.

The funding has also helped us put lasting foundations in place – from improving access to reliable local data through the VCFSE Insights Hub, to developing an online space where organisations can connect, chat support each other, and creating opportunities to access mentoring and expertise through SkillShare.
Although the SPF funding has now come to an end, its impact will continue to be felt across Somerset for years to come. The connections made, skills developed and opportunities created through the programme have left a lasting legacy. The impact report brings together some of the stories, successes and key achievements behind the project – and celebrates the people who made it happen.
