Learn, connect and share at this event exploring community-rooted food resilience.

Somerset Community Food and Sustainable Food Somerset have come together for Rooted in Community, a day shaped by the realities of this extreme summer and the wider systemic challenges community groups and organisations in Somerset are facing.

Explore practical, community‑rooted responses, from food growing, cooking and preserving projects to redistribution and sharing schemes.

The event will open with a discussion involving community projects building resilience and caring for soil, water, food and their communities.

This will b followed by more hands-on workshops including:

  • A session on fermentation – bring a clean glass jar
  • Knead and Natter – learn how to make quick, easy soda bread
  • Growing winter windowsill greens – take home seedlings to grow on
  • An introduction to forest gardening

After a shared, seasonal lunch, attendees will have the opportunity to join a 45-minute tour of the Fox’s Field Forest Garden, with Transition Town Wellington
