How to attract volunteers and create an environment they want to stay in.

Finding the right volunteers – and keeping them engaged – is one of the biggest challenges for organisations that rely on volunteer support. But successful volunteer recruitment and retention rarely happens by accident.

In this practical Lunch & Learn session, we’ll explore how to attract volunteers who are a great fit for your organisation and create an environment where they want to stay and contribute.

Together we’ll look at three key areas:

1. Before You Recruit – Getting the Foundations Right

What do you need to think about before launching a recruitment drive? We’ll explore role clarity, expectations, organisational readiness and how good preparation leads to better volunteer experiences.

2. Creative Approaches to Volunteer Recruitment

Practical ideas and methods for reaching potential volunteers — including how to widen your reach, communicate opportunities clearly and attract people whose motivations align with your cause.

3. Retention – Keeping Volunteers Engaged

What makes volunteers stay? We’ll look at what meaningful volunteer experiences look like and simple strategies that help volunteers feel valued, supported and motivated to continue.

You’ll leave this session with practical ideas, reflective questions and examples you can immediately apply in your organisation.

About the trainer

Your trainer for this session will be Rachel Stewart, a career and leadership coach with over 10 years’ experience in the charity sector, as well as the NHS. Rachel understands that volunteering can be incredibly worthwhile, and helps the sector to be more strategic and intentional, particularly with regards to volunteering.

Free tickets are solely available to VCFSE staff and volunteers from organisations operating in Somerset, and will be of particular interest to Volunteer Coordinators, Managers, and anyone responsible for recruiting or supporting volunteers.

If you are registering for this event and we cannot verify that you’re from a Somerset-based charity, your booking will be cancelled.
